Two-thirds of our body is made up of water and it's our kidneys' role to maintain our hydration level. The kidneys also maintain your blood's electrolyte balance and help flush out toxins from your body.

Thus, it becomes very important to drink water and to stay hydrated with juicy fruits and vegetables, so that your urine doesn't concentrate and harm your kidneys.

YOU MUST EAT FOOD ITEMS RICH IN WATER AND MINERALS

There is a very effective ayurvedic medicine called Chandraprabha which helps with recurrent kidney problems [Consult a doctor first].

Eating right is the only key to keep your kidney in good health.

To protect the kidney, it is important to combine lots of vegetables and fiber, if you eat protein rich food.

Food items you can include in your diet:

  • Fresh lemon juice with rock salt.

  • Apple, Sweet Lime, Grapes, Papaya, Pomegranate, Watermelon, Beetroot, Wheat Grass, Coconut Water, Cucumber and Parsley.

  • Calcium rich ragi is excellent for kidney health.

  • Include turmeric and garlic in food.

  • Avoid excess tea, coffee, alcohol, etc.

  • Kidney healing food that contains rejuvenating B group vitamins and vitamin C [Pomegranates, Watermelon, Papaya, etc.].

  • Have pro-biotic curd, sweet potato, arbi and B12 supplements if you have frequent kidney infections.

The biggest mistake as a health conscious person we do is consuming lots of vitamins and mineral without thinking its adverse effect on organs .

ADDING RAW SPINACH TO YOUR GREEN JUICE DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD

Oxalates — also known as oxalic acid — is a naturally-occurring compound in plants. These plant-based oxalates are consumed through our diet as well as produced as waste by your bodies.

Various foods high in oxalates are rich in many nutrients beneficial to your health, like leafy greens and legumes.

However, too much oxalate in the body can cause some serious health problems. An excess amount of oxalate can combine with calcium in the urine and cause kidney stones and crystals to form. Recurrent kidney stones and crystals can damage the kidney and lead to kidney failure.

Your body naturally gets rid of oxalates, but in high amounts, they can have adverse effects. However, since foods containing oxalates are often nutritious in other ways, you shouldn’t remove them from your diet altogether.

Most people get between 200 and 300 milligrams of oxalates daily. If you’re at risk for kidney stones, I suggest consuming less than 100 milligrams a day. Your Doctor or Nutritionist may also recommend “low-oxalate diets” of less than 50 milligrams daily for some people.

The good thing is that oxalic acid can be easily reduced by steaming, boiling, or wilting the leaves of any of these vegetables for 5 to 8 minutes.
